I am going to start this site with a post Giapo made on the posterous site for Giapo.

My reasoning here is that Alex my 1 yr old baby loves this flavor and his mum does not mind giving it to him because it is so healthy and good for him.

So mums in Auckland try this flavor. Your baby will love it.

Avocado is not a common fruit in Italy. I have only discovered it during a few trips overseas and I became a fan when I moved to New Zealand six years ago. Avocado here in Auckland and in New Zealand is used almost everywhere.. in salad, burgers, sushi and gelato …… With this Video we want to show you where our organic Avocados come from.. and how we make an organic avocado gelato. Avocados are rich in natural fat, which means we don’t need to use much butterfat in our gelato. Avocado gelato is not only delicious, it also benefits your cardiovascular system and not just that.

The benefit:

Avocados contain valuable nutrients including 8% of the recommended Daily Value (DV) for folate; 4% DV for fiber and potassium, 4% DV for vitamin E; and 2% DV for iron.
Avocados are good source of the carotenoid lutein, each avocados contains approximately 81 micrograms of lutein which some studies suggest may help maintain healthy eyes. Lutein has been shown to be concentrated in the macula of the eye, and research suggests that it may help maintain healthy eyesight as we age. Lutein is infact a natural antioxidant that may help maintain eye health as we get older.

Avocados also contain 76 milligrams beta-sitosterol which is a natural plant sterol that may help maintain healthy cholesterol levels. It can help people with heart disease, which have to eat a diet that is low to moderate in saturated fat and cholesterol, to reducing saturated fat in the diet. The avocado is virtually the only fruit that has monounsaturated fat.
Avocados contribute nearly 20 vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are thought to help prevent many chronic diseases.When used instead of other fats avocados can be part of and a satisfying addition to a calorie-reduced diet.

Being sodium and cholesterol free and rich in valuable nutrients avocados are one of the first fresh fruits a baby can enjoy and Annarosa and I we are planning to give it to Francesca at our earliest. Per serving, avocados have 3.5 grams of unsaturated fats, which are known to be important for normal growth and development of the central nervous system and brain in babies.
